A series of Japanese teapots from the “SUSUMUYA” tea ware collection, developed by a specialty tea retailer rooted in Japan’s tea culture. The series reflects a commitment to making tools that support everyday Japanese tea preparation, designed in collaboration with skilled makers and designers to deliver usability without unnecessary complexity.
SUSUMU Teapot (SUSU-001)
The Standard Tea Pot, known simply as
SUSUMU Teapot, is a traditionally inspired teapot crafted in Tokoname. This model has a capacity of approximately
270 ml, making it suitable for daily servings of brewed tea.
This teapot’s form is grounded in a balanced shape that sits comfortably on the table and fits naturally in the hand. It features a finely perforated ceramic infuser that accommodates a range of Japanese tea leaves, including finer varieties, with reduced risk of clogging.
The simple, unfussy design and carefully fitted lid ensure efficient pouring and ease of use, and the ceramic body develops deeper color and character with continued use.
SUSUMU Teapot Tall (SUSU-029)
The SUSUMU Teapot Tall variant presents an alternative proportion within the same design family. This model is vertically elongated, offering adjusted handling characteristics.
A notable element of this variant is its
lid with an extended brim, which is designed to allow the user’s thumb to rest securely when pouring—making it easier to stabilize the teapot during use.
This version has a capacity of approximately
300 ml, reflecting a slight variation in volume relative to the Standard model.
Design Purpose
Across its forms, the SUSUMU Teapot series is developed to help people enjoy brewed Japanese tea in everyday life. The emphasis is on functionality and ease of use, with design elements that support reliable pouring, secure handling, and durability over time.
