The SUSUMU Matcha Ware Series is a collection of ceramics designed to make matcha tea more approachable in everyday life. Created by OJI Masanori and produced in collaboration with skilled makers including JICON (Arita porcelain), this series supports a style of preparing matcha with a pouring vessel and sharing it with small drinking cups.
Design Concept
Across the series, the forms are conceived for hands-on interaction with matcha — from preparing to sharing and drinking — in a way that encourages relaxed daily use. The pieces are proportioned to feel comfortable in the hand and to integrate seamlessly into everyday tea practice.
MATCHA Bowl
A small rounded bowl intended for preparing matcha. Its form accommodates whisking and holding, creating a centered space for matcha preparation in a personal or shared setting.
MATCHA Cup Large
This larger small cup (guinomi) is designed for enjoying matcha or other brewed teas. Its size supports a satisfying mouthfeel while maintaining a compact footprint.
MATCHA Cup Small
A smaller guinomi that complements the larger size, offering a lighter portion and an alternate feel in hand. It is suitable for moments when a modest cup is preferred.
MATCHA Lipped Bowl
The pouring vessel in this series is shaped for matcha preparation and sharing, designed to allow smooth flow into the small cups. Its proportions support steady handling while serving.
